How we do in 2020!

If you’re like me, you want to celebrate Halloween – but also want to be safe about it. I still want to dress up, party with my friends, eat great food and enjoy a couple of adult cocktails  – I just want to do it where I don’t impact others. So, I checked around and found 8 local events/attractions that offer some fun, public, socially distanced options – and some fang-tastic ideas for your home celebrations, as well.

8 Thrilling Snohomish County Halloween Ideas for 2020

Snohomish Zombie Walk

One day each fall, the city of Snohomish becomes the Pacific Northwest headquarters for the walking dead when roughly a thousand Zombies converge on the town in the annual foodbank fundraiser. But in 2020, a socially distanced semi-virtual walk/run gives ghoulish participants multiple days and times to don their gruesome makeup and costumes for a bloody good cause.

The 7^th Annual Zombie Walk is $24 to participate and Zombies will have two weeks, from October 17th thru the 31st, to listlessly make their way around town, through their neighborhoods, or around their local park.

Zombies will receive a one-of-a-kind commemorative medal and access to a private Zombie Walk Facebook group where you can share photos of your zombified experience and interact with other like-minded zombies.

Drive Thru Haunted Farm

Get the bejeezus scared out of you …..from your car!

Like a scene from Children from the Corn, Stocker Farms in Snohomish has created a drive thru haunted experience where only your car window will save you from the freakish monsters, creepy clowns and cannibalistic friends who roam the fields.  Tickets are steep at $120 per carload – but the over 40-minute experience where you can safely live your own horror movie will be priceless.

Heroes & Monsters Scavenger Hunt

If you like the idea of enjoying this year’s socially distanced festivities over the course of a few days, why not check out the Red Curtain Foundation’s Legendary Scavenger Hunt?

Form a team of 3 to 5 players to find and/or create specified items, and then record and submit images and videos that correlate with the theatre company’s planned season. No need to be a theatre expert – just be willing to record yourself doing something silly!  There will be 65 “Missions” to complete – and the team with the highest score wins! Cost is $20 per person.

Make a candy flavored cocktail!

Satisfy your sweet tooth without going door-to-door with two candy inspired cocktails concocted by our friends at , in Snohomish.

The REPPS’ Caramel Fuji Apple

• 1 1/2 oz Apple Pcker
• 1/2 oz Buttershots
• Top with Apple cider and a float of Skip Rock Raspberry Liquor
• Shaken, then strain over ice.

The REPPS’ Starburst Cosmopolitan

• 2oz house infused starburst vodka
• 1 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
• 1 1/2 oz Cointreau 
• Serve in a sugared martini glass

Make a Halloween themed Charcuterie

Everyone loves a good charcuterie board – so why not mix it up a bit with a creepy, yet delicious snack board? This one was made by our friend, Chef Cody Castiglia of Della Terra 425 and features roasted carrot fingers, “bloody” pickled beets, along with a killer assortment of artisan crafted cheeses and meats. A charcuterie board like this is sure to make everyone scream with joy!

Monster Mash in your Livingroom

What kind of music did the mummies play at the Halloween Party? WRAP of course!!  

I love to dance and am always willing to move my living room furniture off to the side for an impromptu dance party. So to get in the spirit, I asked popular wedding and events DJ, PJ Parsons, to put together a Halloween playlist so I could practice my thriller moves and work off my cocktails and charcuterie!  You can find it on Spotify here.

Start a new fall tradition by collecting a glass pumpkin for your very own adult pumpkin patch! Pick (and purchase) your favorite from more than 900 colorful glass pumpkins handcrafted in the Schack glassblowing studio. You can even schedule a time to make your own! The glass pumpkin patch is open from September 17 – November 7^th.

There is no debate – Halloween is made for masks- so why not decorate your daily face covering for the holiday!  One reader even suggested an office mask decorating contest!

Halloween Movie Marathon

There are no shortages of suggestions for scary movies to binge watch from the comfy confines of your humble abode – so I won’t go there. But I do want to suggest a concession stand staple that will bring back the nostalgia of going to the theatre. POPCORN!  Galaxy Theatres in Monroe, WA is popping nonstop – giant five-gallon bags of fresh popcorn sold for the cost of a movie, and at Snohomish Station is now offering unique flavored popcorn to go with their FROYO. Now, that’s a treat!
